Inkjet Cartridges and the Typical Printer Glitch! - Publishing - Printing

The unexpected and annoying printer ink cartridge glitch is a surprisingly, commonplace event. Rather than send for repair or replace, the problems but can be easily dealt with without needing to send the printer for costly repair or to unecessary replace.

Today's new generation of printers will tend to offer printing, photocopying and faxing ( still!), and yet are relatively inexpensive to replace. However, it's more than likely that each type of printer containing their own brand ink cartridges could throw up their own unique set of irritating hold ups!

Most printer ink cartridge problems can be dealt with without thinking you need to send the printer for repair or immediately replace. Unexpected glitches inevitably occur most annoyingly on time-sensitive schedules. So it is worthwhile knowing how to deal quickly with those hold ups as and when they unexpectedly appear.

Some common printer problems...

Smears and Smudges Appear : Smears or smudges which suddenly appear on a printout are often the first sign that the inkjet cartridges are running low and may need to soon be replaced. Alternatively, constant heavy usage on a daily basis may mean that the drum needs to be replaced more often.

Printer Stops Working : When the printer suddenly stops working without any warning, the problem may be any recent changes made to the printer, or computer system set up, which might not be updated with the printing settings. The most common reason is upgraded PC operating software not being compatible with the existing printer driver. This problem can be easily solved by simply downloading the correct compatible driver for the new operating system from the manufacturer's own website.

Error Message Occurs : Printer error messages are not that uncommon, simply because nearly all of today's advanced technology printers tend to be run by a self diagnostic management system. It should be mentioned that using compatible ink cartridges or cheap inkjet cartridges would not cause an error message to occur. In most circumstances, all that is necessary is to restart the printer but it is advised to refer to the printer manual which lists the error messages and how to deal with each one.

Ink Keeps Running Out : There are certain brands of ink cartridges that will continuously clean the inkjets to prevent the cartridge print head of the cartridges from becoming get clogged or jammed. This may have the effect of using up more ink during the cleaning process and thus running out more frequently than expected.

A second reason is that particular brands of printers count the number of pages printed by the inkjet cartridge and store this data on a chip which is preset to decide when the cartridge is presumed to be empty. A majority of compatible cartridges will also include this chip as standard.
