Price indicator with savings potential - The new manual price indicator GLP-I signifies substantially shorter set-up times - Technology

Balingen, 13th May.2011 - The label printers for product labelling from the GLP range by Bizerba can be used in the food processing industry, the production industry and in logistics. At the International Packaging Trade Fair Interpack from 12th until 18th May 2011 in Dsseldorf (Hall 14, stand C 14), the Swabian solutions provider will be presenting a new model, the GLP-I, with savings potential for the user.

The GLP-I, as the successor of the manual price indicator GH, offers additional benefits. The new device with plastic casing is suitable for use in trade, crafts and in the industry. The GLP-I can be used for weight-related, fixed weight and fixed value labelling in the manufacture of meat, sausage, poultry and cheese products, likewise in the fruit and vegetable industry, the manufacture of convenience products and in trade.

"The great advantage of the GLP-I lies in the significant reduction in set-up times. Because label rolls with a 300-millimetre diameter can be used here, the customer saves time and consequently, cash," explains Dieter Conzelmann, Director of Industry Solutions at Bizbera. The comparison with price labelling in which label rolls with a smaller diameter and correspondingly fewer labels per roll are employed indicates a clear message: In comparison with a device which has a label roll diameter of 160 millimetres, the saving of time amounts to about 40 hours per year, compared to a label roll with a diameter of 210 millimetres it even so amounts to 20 hours.

In the proven Bizerba tradition, the GLP-I further distinguishes itself through its various combination possibilities and options for use. So, the printer can be attached to a fully automatic printing line as a batch printer, but can also be used as a manual weight and price indicator. Naturally, using it in a network of Bizerba price indicators and check weighers is also an option.

Like all Bizerba printers, the GLP-I offers both direct thermal printing and thermal transfer printing. "In all print widths up to 104 millimetres, the user will achieve a printing speed of up to 250 millimetres per second," says Conzelmann. Depending on the printing speed, the printed picture will be depicted with a resolution of 8 to 12 dots (203 to 300 dpi). In addition to standard labels, layouts can also be designed according to the individual customer needs, for example with the help of Bizerba label designers BLD.

If faults should ever appear, Bizerba guarantees that the fault time is as low as conceivably possible with its e-service. "Via the e-service, our technicians can quickly provide a remote diagnosis of the problem and immediately remove the fault remotely or fix it in a short time period on site," ensures Dieter Conzelmann.
